A solar power system’s output depends on a number of factors, including:
- Solar irradiation at the site
- South-facing exposure
- Roof pitch
This iPhone 3G application determines solar irradiation at the GPS location with database information. It uses the phone’s magnetic compass to measure orientation and its tilt sensor to determine the roof angle. The application then provides a specific output estimate in kWh/kWp/a based on a mathematic model.
Together with the available roof area or desired system size, this estimate value is then used to predict annual energy yields and carbon dioxide avoidance.
The third feature calculates the ROI for the rebate for fed-in solar power in relation to the capital invested in the solar power system.
The fourth feature allows you to search for a qualified solar power installer nearby.
Note: iPhone 3G users can also enter the direction manually.
